Dear Friends,

Today, I had a fulsome meeting with a thoracic surgeon and the news looks promising indeed.

In the next few weeks I will undergo two surgeries. The first is a more intrusive biopsy (general anesthetic) of the mass and surrounding lymph nodes. This will confirm what is already expected, which is that the mass is contained in the middle lobe of the right lung. Following this procedure, I will undergo a second surgery to remove the middle lobe of the lung.

The surgeon has informed Catherine and I that, forgoing any unexpected complications, the prognosis is excellent, and I will be able to return to normal living and ministry soon.

Catherine and I cannot find the words to express to you, the clergy and people of our wonderful diocese, our gratitude for upholding us in your prayers, cards sent, as well as emails and texts. Your care and compassion and hopefulness have uplifted us throughout these difficult days.

There will be more to come, but the future, thanks be to God, looks promising indeed.

Yours in the faith of Christ,
†John
