Cornerstone Housing for Women, Ottawa held a special event for donors this month, including the Anglican Foundation of Canada. The Foundation granted funds to seed a brand new initiative to provide a part-time Elder and Indigenous support worker in this repurposed convent that now provides housing for 42 women who have been chronically homeless. 10% of the units are for Indigenous women as part of Cornerstone’s commitment to Truth & Reconciliation. The residence was formerly the convent of the Sisters of Jeanne d’Arc in Westboro. One of the residents thanked the donors with these words, “Thank you for giving me a home when I had nothing.” Read more.
