Ottawa, ON, May 11, 2026 — The Anglican Diocese of Ottawa formally ordained, consecrated and installed The Right Reverend Kathryn Anne Otley as its 11th bishop during a service held Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Christ Church Cathedral in Ottawa.
The ceremony drew more than 530 attendees, including clergy, community leaders, ecumenical and interfaith representatives, family members and guests from across Canada. The service was livestreamed through Christ Church Cathedral.
The consecration was presided over by The Most Reverend Anne Germond, Metropolitan of the Ecclesiastical Province of Ontario, with participation from Anglican bishops and archbishops from across the country. During the liturgy, Archbishop Shane Parker, Primate of the Anglican Church of Canada, presented Bishop Kathryn with a crozier, a pastoral staff symbolizing her pastoral and leadership responsibilities within the diocese.
Bishop Kathryn becomes the first woman to serve as bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Ottawa since the diocese was established in 1896. This year marks its 130th anniversary.
